WAS IST IN LÜTZERATH LOS?

Lützerath - ein kleines hübsches Dorf in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Intakte Landwirtschaft, wertvolle Lössböden und eine Heimat für die Menschen, die dort seit Generationen leben, wie z.B. Eckard Heukamp, der lange seinen Hof verteidigt hat. Eckard Heukamps Statement vermittelt zwischen Emotionalität und den harten Fakten die Lage sehr eindrücklich und ist sicher ein guter Einstieg ins Thema.

Denn dieses Dorf ist dieser Tage dem Abriss geweiht, da der Energieriese RWE das Dorf wegbaggern will, um an die Kohle zu kommen. Grundlage dafür ist der Deal, den die Landesregierung von NRW Ende vergangenen Jahres mit dem Kohlekonzern RWE gemacht hat. Die Bundesregierung hat der Zerstörung Lützeraths gegen das Votum des Bundestages zugestimmt. Ein weiteres Dorf - von bisher schon 300 Dörfern, die in Deutschland zerstört wurden, um an die darunter liegende Braunkohle zu kommen. Viele jahrhundertealte Bäume wurden gefällt. Kirchen, denkmalgeschützte Gebäude und Höfe, Kulturdenkmale, Lebensräume von Tieren wurden zerstört, Menschen verloren ihre Häuser, Enteignungen fanden statt - alles zusammen klingt wie eine Geschichte aus dem 19. Jahrhundert.

Aber es passiert jetzt und hier – im Jahr 2023. Indem RWE erlaubt wird, weitere 280 Mio. Tonnen Braunkohle mehr zu fördern, brechen wir zudem das Pariser Abkommen und akzeptieren, dass dieser Ort der schmutzigste Ort in ganz Europa wird - obwohl Studien zeigen, dass diese Zerstörung unserer Natur und unseres Klimas selbst für unseren sogenannten „Wohlstand“ nicht erforderlich wäre.

Hier einige Studien, die zeigen, dass es für die Energiesicherheit nicht erforderlich ist Lützerath abzubaggern:

Und nun, am 3. Januar 2023, begann das, was viele befürchtet hatten: RWE kümmert sich um keine Einwände und beginnt mit der Zerstörung Lützeraths. Die Polizei fängt mit der Räumung an und vertreibt alle, die sich vor Ort für den Erhalt des Dorfes einsetzen. Mittlerweile sind es viele, die dem Dorf wieder neues Leben einhauchen und sich für seinen Erhalt einsetzen wollen. Auch die bundesweiten solidarischen Proteste nehmen zu.

Eine große Demonstration hat am 14.1.2023 um 12.00 Uhr stattgefunden, Menschen kammen von überall her aus Deutschland und aus dem Ausland, um NEIN zu RWE und JA zum Erhalt von Lützerath zu sagen.

WARUM IST ES SO WICHTIG, DASS LÜTZERATH ERHALTEN BLEIBT?

Abgesehen von der Zerstörung der Landschaft und der Vertreibung aus der Heimat hat das Abbaggern der Kohleflöze verheerende Auswirkungen auf unser Klima und auf die Erderhitzung - und das betrifft uns alle.

Auch in den Medien werden die Zusammenhänge mittlerweile klar beschrieben.

WIR FORDERN DAHER, DASS LÜTZERATH BLEIBT! - UND WIR SIND NICHT ALLEIN...

Nicht mit uns: Auch wir fordern Hände weg von Lützerath. Unsere diesbezügliche Pressemeldung wurde in vielen Zeitungen aufgenommen, so z.B. in der ZEIT, Süddeutschen Zeitung, Westdeutschen Zeitung, bei RTL und im Stern.

Auch der Bundestag sprach sich schon im Juli für den Erhalt von Lützerath aus.

Zudem fordern viele andere Umweltverbände und Organisationen den Erhalt von Lützerath und den Verbleib der Kohle unter Lützerath.

Im Angesicht der Vorgänge in Lützerath fordern Parents for Future Deutschland ein Sofortiges Moratorium für die Räumung von Lützerath!

Aktionsbündnis Lützerath unräumbar kündigt weiter Aktionen um Lützerath an, denn die Braunkohle unter Lützerath muss im Boden bleiben!

WHAT'S GOING ON IN LÜTZERATH?

Lützerath - a small pretty village in North Rhine-Westphalia. Intact agriculture, valuable loess soils and a home for the people who have lived there for generations, such as Eckard Heukamp, who has long defended his farm. His statement here conveys the situation very impressively between emotionality and the hard facts and is certainly a good introduction to the topic.

Because this village is doomed to demolition these days, because the energy giant RWE wants to dredge the village away to get the coal. The basis for this is the deal that the state government of NRW made with the coal company RWE at the end of last year. The federal government approved the destruction of Lützerath against the vote of the Bundestag. Another village - out of 300 villages already destroyed in Germany so far - to get at the lignite underneath. Many centuries-old trees were felled. Churches, buildings and farms, cultural monuments, animal habitats were destroyed, people lost their homes, expropriations took place - all together it sounds like a story from the 19th century…

But it is happening now and here - in 2023. By allowing RWE to extract another 280 million tons of lignite more, we are also breaking the Paris Agreement and accepting that this place will become the dirtiest brown coal place in all of Europe - even though studies show that this destruction of our nature and climate would not be necessary even for our so-called "prosperity". And even more: It‘s not necessary at all.

HERE ARE SOME STUDY SHOWING THAT IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO DREDGE LÜTZERATH FOR ENERGY SECURITY:

"Alle Dörfer bleiben" refers to further studies on the dredging of Lützerath.

And on January 3, 2023 began, what many had feared: RWE does not care about any objections and starts with the destruction of Lützerath. The police starts evicting and drives away all those who are working on the spot to preserve the village. In the meantime, there are many who put breathe and new life into the village and campaign for its preservation. The internationally and nationwide solidarity protests are also increasing.

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT THAT LÜTZERATH IS PRESERVED?

Apart from the destruction of the landscape and the expulsion from the homeland, the mining of coal seams has devastating effects on our climate and on global warming - and this affects us all.

The media, too, are now clearly describing the interrelationships.

We therefore demand that Lützerath stays! - and we are not alone...

Not with us: We also demand hands off Lützerath. Our press release in this regard was picked up by many newspapers, e.g. the ZEIT, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Westdeutsche Zeitung, RTL and Stern.

Also the Bundestag spoke out already in July for not destroying Lützerath.

In addition, many other environmental associations and organizations are calling for the preservation of Lützerath and for the coal to remain under Lützerath.

In view of the events in Lützerath, Parents for Future Germany also demands an immediate moratorium to stop the destruction in Lützerath!
